§ 1Data we collect

We collect two categories of data.

Data you provide: first and last name; email address and phone number (including WhatsApp); delivery address; payment information (encrypted and secured); the contents of your orders, reviews and messages.

Data collected automatically as you browse: IP address; browsing data (pages visited, cookies); browser and device type; purchase history.

§ 2Purposes of processing

Your data is used solely to: process, deliver and track your orders; handle payments via the escrow account and licensed providers; improve your experience on the Platform; inform you of our offers and news, with your consent; prevent fraud and secure the Platform; respond to your requests and complaints.

§ 3Legal basis and consent

We process your data on the following bases: performance of the contract of sale (order handling); your consent (marketing communications, non-essential cookies); our legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention); and compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

§ 4Security and cybersecurity

We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your data: encryption of communications via an SSL/TLS certificate, encryption of payment information, protected servers and access restricted to authorised persons only.

As no system is infallible, we encourage you to keep your login credentials confidential.

§ 5Data sharing

Your data is never sold. It is shared only with the partners strictly necessary to fulfil your orders:

payment providers — Lumicash, EcoCash, IBB Mobile Plus, eNoti, iHela — and the AfriPay technical gateway;
logistics partners (couriers, relay points, carriers) for delivery;
our hosting provider, for the operation of the Platform;
our audience-measurement tools.

Each of these partners undertakes to respect the confidentiality of your data.

§ 6International transfers

Some of your data may be hosted or processed outside Burundi — in particular by our hosting provider located in Canada, and by our international delivery partners when you order a delivery abroad. In all cases, we ensure that such transfers are accompanied by appropriate security safeguards.

§ 7Retention period

We retain your data for as long as necessary for the purposes described, then for the period required by our legal, accounting and tax obligations. Beyond that, it is deleted or anonymised.

§ 8Your rights

You have the right, at any time, to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to certain processing, and delete your account. To exercise these rights, write to us at info@akaguriro.com; we respond as soon as possible.

§ 9Cookies

We use cookies to remember your language and cart, analyse traffic and offer you relevant content. You can disable them in your browser settings; some Platform features may then be limited.

This policy may be updated at any time. The most recent version is always available on this page; we will inform you of any significant change by email or through the Platform.
